To the alumni and friends of Alpha Rho Chapter,

Because of the restrictions on social gatherings dictated by Georgia Tech and the Atlanta city government due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the alumni officers of the Board of Governors and the Alpha Rho House Corporation have made the decision to close the chapter house to all visitors through at least September 30, 2020.

There will be no Alpha Rho tailgate event, either on campus or at the chapter house, for the UCF football game on Sept. 19. The chapter house will be locked, and only accessible to the undergraduates living in it. If you attend the UCF game, please do not attempt to enter the house or the property. This is for your safety and the safety of the residents.

Prior to the end of September (or as new information is available) we will determine whether to reopen the house, or keep it closed, based on guidance provided by the Georgia Tech administration. At this point it is uncertain if any alumni gatherings will be allowed on campus this fall. It is also unclear if Georgia Tech will even schedule Homecoming for 2020. As always, our primary consideration will be the safety and well-being of our members, their families, and their guests.

The status of the colony remains unchanged despite the pandemic. The Alpha Rho re-chartering ceremony will be scheduled as soon as it is safe to do so. The House Corporation finances are in good shape, and the colonists are looking forward to a strong fall rush (albeit a “virtual” one). We will keep you informed as circumstances change, and hope for the continued support of our brotherhood until campus life returns to normal.

Thank you for helping ensure the safety of our colony and house by adhering to this policy.

Fraternally,

Rick Fredlund
