Over the past decade, scholarship programs have become an essential element of membership recruitment and retention for the Georgia Tech fraternity system. The future success of Alpha Rho Chapter requires a competitive scholarship program for brothers and prospective members. The Chambers Endowment is the answer.
Our goal is to raise $250,000 over the next five years for the Chambers Endowment. All donations will be tax-deductible, with the endowment held by the Georgia Tech Foundation. Scholarships will be funded from the endowment income (the balance will never be touched), with the investment of the principal managed by the Foundation.
Prof. Robert Butera, Alpha Rho alumnus and Emeritus Professor at Georgia Tech, will work with the officers of the Alpha Rho Board of Governors to oversee the distribution of scholarship funds. A principal of $250,000 will provide approximately $10,000 annually for chapter scholarships in perpetuity, based on the typical annual investment return provided by the Foundation. As of Dec. 31, 2024, the endowment balance was vested at $57,497, so we're already more than one-quarter of the way to our goal.
